Tears As Nigerian Army Buries 14 Soldiers Killed By Boko Haram


14 soldiers killed in an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists, on December 24, 2018, were, on Friday, buried, amidst tears, by the Nigerian army in Kaduna State.

The deceased who were on escort duty, were ambushed on their way back to Kaduna by the terrorists on Damaturu-Maiduguri road.

APC Planning To Rig Ogun Governorship Election- Amosun Cries Out

Governor Ibikunle Amosun has accused the ruling party of planning to rig the governorship election in the state. The governor who is contesting a senatorial seat under the party, however said any plot to rig the election will be resisted. Ibikunle Amosun revealed that there is a grand plan by his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, warning that such plot will fail. He said this in reaction to the position he took by fielding his preferred candidate, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade on the platform of a different political party, the Allied People's Movement (APM) in protest against his own party, the APC which he accused of rigging the gubernatorial primary election. The development has pitched the governor against the national leadership of the APC, although he is running for the senatorial seat in the same party. INEC Identifies 24 Inaccessible Polling Units In Yobe

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Yobe State says it has identified 24 inaccessible areas with security challenges where elections will not hold. Ahmad Makama, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, stated this at a stakeholders interactive session on Wednesday in Damaturu. He said security operatives had confirmed some communities in Gujba, Gulani and Giedam with security challenges that were inaccessible and not conducive for election. Makama said the commission was liaising with the communities for a more accessible alternative polling units to cast their votes. “We are determined to ensure that every eligible voter exercises his franchise, and are therefore collaborating with all political parties and stakeholders for a generally acceptable alternative polling units so that no one will cry foul,” he said. According to the commissioner, 69,000 Permanent voters card had not been claimed in the state. (NAN)
