2019: 60 APC Support Groups Dump Party, Join PDP

A coalition of 60 support groups from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday dumped the party to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The groups, which lamented that they were used and dumped by the APC, added that they decided to dump the ruling party in the interest of Nigeria, as the nation has no future in the hand of APC.

Speaking at the national secretariat of the party at the official defection of the groups, the former National Youth Vanguard Co-ordinator of APC, Honourable Jubril Gazama, disclosed that the mass defection of the Support Groups was a collective decision of members having realized that they were deceived and used them.

He said: “Our pulling out of our supports for the APC was a collective decision, we all decided to quit so that we can have a future called Nigeria.

“They used us and they dumped us, we were all over the places, manning the polling booths to ensure victory for the Party which we did.

“Now 2019 is approaching again, we don’t want the repeat of that mistake, rather we have decided to quit and come to the PDP, we have accepted the party’s apologies and we are going to the field for the mass mobilisation of votes for the total victory of its Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other candidates in the elections.”

Also speaking, the National Woman leader of the Support Groups, Ambassador Blessing Sunday, explained the reason why they dumped the party, adding that the groups worked and ensured total victory for APC under the illusion that the government would make lives more better for Nigerian but only to come to power and chained down the nation.

She narrated how the Support Groups went round the entire country to solicit votes for the party only to be dumped without even a handshake either by the President Muhammadu Buhari or the leadership of the Party and vowed that such would never repeat itself again.

Welcoming the decampees, the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, who was represented by the National Secretary, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, tasked the group to agree and resolve to work together and ensure victory for PDP.

He said: “We all know what we are feeling in Nigeria. People are talking of what they are going to eat, nobody is doing any invention.

“PDP made mistakes and it was our mistake that brought Nigeria to the level it is now. Today, this PDP is repositioned, rebranded and it is going to win.

“Internal democracy has been built into the system of the party. Impunity has been taken away from the party and imposition has been given a red card. You are the people that brought APC on board and you are going to shun APC and bring PDP on board.

“Take it or leave it, PDP is good in governance but APC was a merger and cannot be good in governance. We are good in governance, take us back to governance, they are good in opposition, take them back to opposition,” Tsauri challenged the coalition.

He assured them that they will never regret joining the PDP and assured them of the party’s strong support and commitment.

In remarks, the National Youth Leader of the Party, Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye disclosed the mass defection of the Support Groups to the PDP was a good omen to what should be expected in the 2019 elections.

He said: “On that day the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, President Buhari and other APC apologies will look backward and it will dawn on them they are left with nobody again.”
