Anambra Community Stands Still As Madam Patricia Nwude Akpudo Is Committed To Mother Earth
In an atmosphere that could be mistaken for a carnival, the
burial of late Madam Patricia Nwude Akpudo lit up the otherwise quite community
of Eziowelle, in Idemili North L.G.A of Anambra State. There were Senators,
Past Senators, House of representative candidates of various political parties,
house of assembly members, leadership of various professional and
socio-political groups like the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ohaneze Ndigbo
and almost everybody who is somebody in Anambra State.
The burial which commenced with a mass at St. Edward
Catholic church, had three roman catholic priests in attendance. In his homily,
the officiating priest and Parish priest of church, extolled the qualities of
late Madam Patricia Nwude Akpudo, describing her as a virtuous woman who led a
life of selflessness, commitment to God and love of humanity. He called on
other women to emulate her life so that they also, could be fondly remembered
when they are gone.
Speaking further, the parish priest said late Madam Patricia
Nwude Akpudo will be missed not just by her immediate family, but by the church
and the entire Eziowelle community as she was a mother to all.
In their various condolence messages, Senators Iyom Uche
Ekwunife and Annie Okonkwo euologized the lives and times of late Madam
Patricia Nwude Akpudo, saying that she led a successful and fulfilling life
which is evident in the quality of children she raised one of whom have gone on
to become the President-General of the town. They urged the family to continue
in her footsteps and continue to espouse her principles.
In a separate remark, the House of Representative Candidate
of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Idemilli North and South,
Ifeanyi Ibezi said inspite of his tight schedule, he had no choice but to
honour the Akpudos because of the relationship he enjoys with one their sons,
Barr. Titus Akpudo (Ichaka) who is also the P.G of Eziowelle.
In his speech, the P.G, Barr. Titus Akpudo
(Ichaka) who is a son to the late matriarch, thanked all who found time to
attend. He said they will all miss their mother who has been a solid pillar in
their various lives. He however said they will take solace in the knowledge that
she is now at a better place, resting in the bossom of the Lord.
