UK Based Charity Outreach Take Love To Nigerian Prisons

Image
It is Christ who in Mathew 22:34-40 admonished Christians on the need for Love of God and of Neighbour. In keeping with the teachings of Christ and a rare show of love for humanity, a UK based charity outreach, New Bethel Christian Centre, has donated items worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Onitsha. The team led by a BOT member of the Outreach who also doubles as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, said the gesture was in keeping with a tradition that has spanned over two decades right from his time in the UK. He explained that the major thrust of the visit was to lift up the spirits of the inmates by encouraging and supporting them while giving them hope of a better and brighter future which will in turn aid their reintegration into the society. While interacting with the inmates, Venerable Okwuosa, who is also a lawye

Amotekun: "No Going Back, Do Your Worst" - FFK to FG

Image
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode has dared the Buhari-led Federal Government to do her worse as South West will not back down on its regional security outfit christened Amotekun. His reaction is coming on the heels of the call by the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders for the arrest of South West leaders backing the operation. In his words on twitter FFK said: "Go ahead, arrest us and ignite a fire. Do your worst and make heroes and martyrs out of us. We are ready to sacrifice ALL for the freedom of our loved ones & children & for the future generations of our people. We will never bow to you and we will not be intimidated by your bullying ways and childish barrack-room threats. When you take one of us down millions will rise up in his or her defence and in his or her place. We have lost all sense of fear. We have no fear of arrest, no fear of death, no fear of torture, no fear of failure and no fear of tyranny because the Lord is with us! Am

Amotekun: Arrest Yoruba Leaders - Miyetti Allah Tells FG

Image
National President General of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has called on the federal government to arrest Yoruba leaders promoting Operation Amotekun, the Southwest regional security network. In an interview with 24/7 news, the leader of the Fulani socio-cultural association emphasized that the aim of setting up the security outfit was to ban Fulani herdsmen from Yorubaland. The Southwest has set up a regional security outfit, Operation Amotekun, what is your view on that? I read it on the internet. However, it would have been a good development, if the national security agencies – the Army, the Police, the DSS, the Civil Defence, etc, were not living up to expectations. Will Amotekun have more security intelligence than these national security orgnisations? The answer is no. Anything security should be left with those security organisations, so, I don’t know the reason for this one from the Southwest, except that it has sinister motive. Look at how the

This made Davido unfollow Peruzzi and Chioma out of anger. It's alleged that Perruzi used to sleep with Chioma and uses her as love-vendor.  This made some dig up Kemi Olunloyo's old tweet where she had alleged that Perruzi used to love-vendor Chioma. Some are now hailing Kemi Olunloyo.  Davido who has been hit with "audio signing" and copyright controversy with Peruzzi's former label's CEO, King Patrick, dropped a shade via a tweet: "If you're feeling depressed, remember that you're not alone. Tanko Yakasai: How Igbo Can Produce A President

Image
Former Presidential Adviser, Tanko Yakasai, believes the Igbo ethnic group has a chance to produce a Nigerian President if it gets the blessing of other parts of the country, especially the North. Mr. Yakassai, 94, made the comment on Friday during an appearance on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily. “There is a good opportunity for Igbos to produce the president of Nigeria in the near future or later,” he said. “The political arrangement in the country is such that you need correlation with some parts of the North and South. The Igbo can make a move of getting partners from other parts of the country, in particular the North. “It is not just to complain; meaningful efforts should be made to reach out to get partners so that eventually they will realise their aspirations; and I think they can.” The Igbo are one of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, occupying the country’s South-East region, but have not been able to produce a Nigerian President since the country’s return to de

Amotekun: Who Ordered Registration In Churches? - MURIC

Image
PRESS RELEASE: AMOTEKUN: WHO ORDERED REGISTRATION IN CHURCHES? Governors of the South West sub-region recently established a security outfit called ‘Amotekun’ (the leopard). However, an Islamic organization has raised the alarm over what it described as the attempt of the handlers of the new security outfit to accept birth certificates registered only in churches as one of the pre-requisites for eligibility for recruitment into the outfit. This was the view expressed by Professor Ishaq Akintola, director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) in a statement issued early on Friday, 17th January, 2020. “Let us make our stand on Amotekun clear from the beginning. MURIC is not allergic to any state or region taking steps aimed at rubber-cushioning the effect of the security challenges currently facing Nigeria. But the approach must be transparent, assuring and all-embracing. There must be evidence of good intention. The legitimacy or otherwise of Amotekun is not our focus. We lea

Brain Freeze: Russian Firm Offers Path To Immortality For A Fee

Image
When Alexei Voronenkov’s 70-year-old mother passed away, he paid to have her brain frozen and stored in the hope breakthroughs in science will one day be able to bring her back to life. It is one of 71 brains and human cadavers - which Russian company KrioRus calls its “patients” - floating in liquid nitrogen in one of several metres-tall vats in a corrugated metal shed outside Moscow. They are stored at -196 degrees Celsius (-320.8°F) with the aim of protecting them against deterioration, although there is currently no evidence science will be able to revive the dead. “I did this because we were very close and I think it is the only chance for us to meet in the future,” said Voronenkov who intends to undergo the procedure, known as cryonics, when he dies. The head of the Russian Academy of Sciences’s Pseudoscience Commission, Evgeny Alexandrov, described cryonics as “an exclusively commercial undertaking that does not have any scientific basis”, in comments to the Izvestia

They should be decently covered”, among others, with some of the female members dressed in Khaki skirts. According to them, year after year, female corps members are harassed at orientation camps for refusing to wear skirts. This, they said, is a breach of their fundamental human rights under Section 38(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A leader of the group, Udochi Emmanuel, said the use of trousers are evoking immorality in the camps. In the 1970s and 1980s, she said, “we had our mothers wearing ski

SIM Recycling Rings Danger For Phone Users

Image
Phone numbers are now often considered the “trust anchor” for end-user accounts. In some cases, a user’s valid phone number is their user name. But what happens when the very phone numbers that are used to verify and keep end-users secure are given up, recycled and assigned to a new person? Phone number recycling is the industry term that refers to the event when that deactivated/disconnected number gets reassigned to someone else. Data of recycled phone numbers are not available but is thought that if users are not diligent in updating their account information and telcos are not aware of numbers being recycled, it can lead to increased risks for the integrity of the account. In the most basic scenario, the new owner of a phone number is now tied to the account that the former owner linked to that same number—providing access to someone else’s account. Alternatively, this can also lead to the true user being locked out and account notifications, security codes, password resets

US troops were injured in Iran missile attack despite Pentagon initially saying there were no casualties Several US service members were injured during last week's Iranian missile attack on Al-Asad airbase in Iraq despite the Pentagon initially saying that no casualties had taken place. "While no U.S. service members were killed in the Jan. 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad Air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed," the US-led military coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria said in a statement Thursday. A US military official told CNN that 11 service members had been injured in the attack, which was launched in retaliation for the US airstrikes that had killed Iranian Gen.
