I’ll Hand Over To Younger Nigerians - Atiku

The presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has promised to work to hand over power to the younger generation if elected. He said yesterday at a rally in Calabar that if he becomes president next Saturday, he would be the last aged president in the country. “When I win the presidential election, I will be a transitional president,” he said, adding that time had come for all to work towards handing over power to a new set of rulers. “We will actualize Ayade’s key projects such as the deep seaport, the super highway, etc to create massive jobs for people of the state,” he added.

Just in: Court orders arrest of CCB chairman over El Rufai's assets declaration A Kaduna state high court on Friday, February 8, issued a warrant of arrest against the chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, for contempt. The warrant of arrest was issued by Justice Mario Mohammed after the chairman had ignored several summons by the court in a suit between Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i and Today’s publishing Company Limited, and one other. A warrant form obtained directed that police personnel and authorities should arrest the CCB chairman and produce him before the court on February 13. NECO GCE Result 2018 Is Out: NECO Records Over 62% Credits In Maths, English

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the 2018 November /December External Senior School Certificate Examination results. Acting Registrar of NECO, Abubakar Gana, in a statement on Friday, said the council has released the 2018 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination ,SSCE, with 62.48% of the candidates scoring at least five credits and above in both English Language and Mathematics. According to him, while 44,497 candidates got either distinction or credit in English Language, 47,151 candidates got either distinction or credit in Mathematics. He also said 47,031 candidates got five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics. Meanwhile, NECO, cancelled the results of 1,967, 1,759 and 1,144 in Mathematics, English Language and Biology, respectively over malpractices.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday condemned the reported directive by the Buhari Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to shut down the venue for its Presidential campaign mega rally in Abuja billed for Saturday. It also alleged that the action was borne out of desperation, insisting that nothing can stop it from rallying in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). FG Releases N16.8bn To Settle Tertiary Institutions Salary Arrears

The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has said the Federal Government has released N16.8 billion to settle salary arrears of staff in the country’s tertiary institutions. He disclosed this during the “6th Edition of the ministerial press briefing’’ held in Abuja. He said the disbursement was ongoing through the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. The minister said government had resolved all issues and awaits the academic unions to also call off their strike in the coming days, especially ASUU and ASUP.

The Kano State government on Monday ordered the immediate closure of the two major stadia in the state, barely six days to the proposed presidential campaign rally of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
